Happy Halloween!

The Spokane Police Department would like to remind everyone that tonight the streets will be full of kids out trick or treating.  Please be extra cautious as you drive and remember, kids excited about trick or treating and getting that next piece of candy, may not be watching where they are going.

Parents, we encourage you to ensure your kids are dressed for the weather and if possible, include reflective or high visibility items on their costumes to make sure drivers can see them.  Flashlights and glow sticks are great items to supplement a costume.

Please make sure younger children are in the company of adults or older, more responsible parties.  We recommend smaller children trick or treat at homes they are familiar with, or they stay in the company of a parent. Kids should never get into a car or take a ride with someone they don’t know.  Remember to walk facing traffic and don’t assume that cars can see you.

Adults, make sure you enjoy Halloween responsibly and provide for safe transportation if you’re traveling to and from a Halloween party.
