Shooting Leaves Man in Critical Condition

The victim of a gunshot to the head stemming from an incident in the 3300 block of East Carlisle at 1:20 AM on September 24th has died as a result of the wound. 

Yesterday at about 4:00 PM the victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital.  The victim suffered a gunshot to the head in a confrontation at a party in the 3300 block of East Carlisle.  See original press release below. SPD investigators have changed the charges of both defendants, James E Kemple 5-5-99 and Ivan D Liles 4-13-99 to 2nd Degree Murder. 

The investigation is continuing and additional charges may be filed in the future.

***Sept. 24 UPDATE***

Spokane Police Major Crimes Detectives have arrested two suspects related to the shooting that took place on E Carlisle in the early hours of Thursday morning. 

This morning at about 9:00 AM SPD Major Crimes Detectives developed information that suspects involved in the shooting on E. Carlisle were located at a house in the 1700 block of W. Boone Ave. 

Members of SPD’s Special Investigations Unit, the regional Safe Streets Task Force, SPD SWAT and SPD patrol officers conducted surveillance at the location and confirmed the suspects were there.  The suspects, identified as James E Kemple 5/5/99 and Ivan D Liles 4/13/99 were taken into custody without incident in the front yard of the residence.

Both men will be booked into jail for First Degree Assault, if the condition of the victim changes the charges may be amended. 

SPD MCU is still investigating the shooting and is currently executing a search warrant at the residence on Boone where the suspects were taken into custody.  Both men could face additional charges as the investigation continues.

A Party in the 3300 block of East Carlisle results in a shooting, one man is in critical condition at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.  

Around 1:20 AM this morning (September 24th) SPD Officers responded to a shooting in the 3300 block of East Carlisle.  There had been a party at that location and at some point an argument broke out.  The argument escalated and turned into a shooting.  One male was shot in the head and was transported by people from the party to the hospital.  He is currently in critical condition. 

The SPD Major Crimes unit has responded and is still working the incident.  The suspect is currently outstanding.  All the information we have at this time is preliminary, the investigation is ongoing.
