Today, September 2nd , 2021, at approximately 5:15 PM, Spokane Police responded to the 1600 block of West Mission Ave for the report of an attempted abduction.

Witnesses called to report a male had approached a 5 year old child and attempted to carry the child away.  A vigilant neighbor confronted the man and yelled at him to stop.  The male released the child and fled from the scene.  Responding officers located the male a short distance away.  The specific description provided by the witnesses allowed officers to detain the male.  He was then positively identified by the witnesses.

Felix M. Booth, 35, was booked into the Spokane Regional Jail Facility for attempted 2nd degree kidnapping.

The child was physically unharmed and is home with his family.

A child is home safe with his family tonight due to the vigilance of a neighbor to recognize something was wrong and the courage to confront the suspect.  Please take the time to get to know your neighbors.  You never know when it may save a life.  If you witness a crime, please call Crime Check, 509-456-2233, and say something.
