Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 7:26 p.m.

Just before 4:30 PM this afternoon, September 2, 2021, Officers responded to a call from security at the Bank of America at Howard and Sprague downtown for a report that someone had been shot.  The caller reported that both the suspect and victim walked away from the scene.

Officers assigned to the downtown precinct were able to quickly respond to the area and locate the crime scene.  With the assistance of multiple officers flooding the area, the victim was located nearby in the area and medical aid was rendered.  The Spokane Fire Department and EMS personnel responded and transported the victim to Sacred Heart Medical Center for continued care for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

At this time, the suspect is not in custody.  The initial investigation leads investigators to believe that the shooting was targeted and there is not an ongoing threat to the public.  Further information will be released to the public as the investigation develops.

If anyone was in the area and witnessed the incident and was not contacted by investigators, you are encouraged to call Crime Check at (509)456-2233.
