SPD responds to vehicle vs pedestrian collision downtown, victim succumbs to injuries at a local hospital
On September 10, 2021 at approximately 3:40am, 911 received a call regarding a vehicle vs pedestrian collision near the intersection of W. Pacific Avenue and S. Browne Street.
The caller stated a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and was currently in the middle of the road with unknown injuries. SPD officers arrived on-scene shortly after and located the victim laying in the road with what appeared to be life threatening injuries.
Medical personnel arrived on scene and updated the victim’s condition to non-life threatening before transporting the victim to a local hospital for further medical evaluation.
Unfortunately, the subject succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital several hours after arrival. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with officers throughout the initial investigation.
There is no indication of criminality in this incident, and no charges are currently pending for the driver of the vehicle.
SPD would like to remind the public to use caution when crossing streets and to abide by traffic laws as they relate to pedestrian crosswalks in an effort to minimize the risk of vehicular vs pedestrian collisions.
