Woman arrested for vehicular homicide after pedestrian death

On March 1, 2022 at 6:00 pm, officers were dispatched to the 4100 block of  E. Sprague Ave for a collision between a vehicle and pedestrian.  Dispatch received a call from witnesses saying a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle going westbound on E. Sprague Ave. Officers were the first to arrive on scene and started to perform CPR until medics arrived. Despite the medical efforts of first responders, an adult male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver remained on scene, she was identified as Jaguar Pierre (47).  Officers discovered that Pierre was driving westbound on E. Sprague Ave and collided with the pedestrian walking across the street on Sprague Ave.  Officers determined that Pierre showed signs of being under the influence.  She was arrested for vehicular homicide due to being under the influence and a death resulting from the collision.

Major crimes arrived and E. Sprague Ave from S. Myrtle St. to S. Havana St. was closed until scene was processed.

Pedestrian’s name will be released by medical examiner.
