SPD arrests bank robbery suspect who used a stolen rental van as a getaway vehicle

On 4/20/2022 Spokane Police responded to a bank robbery in the zero hundred block of W. Riverside. A man with a bandana over his face walked into the credit union and approached a teller with what appeared to be weapon and demanded money. The suspect left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Down the street from the robbery, a security guard made some important observations: the guard saw a rental vehicle parked, and noted a man exit the van while a women remained inside. A short time later the security guard saw the same male run back to the van, jump in, and depart the area. The information helped officers identify the vehicle they were looking for, which turned out to be a stolen rental van.

Kalispel Tribal Police (KTP) located the stolen rental vehicle at Northern Quest Casino on 4/22/2022 and arrested Mark DeVous (42) for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Criminal Trespass 1st Degree. Further investigation by SPD, in conjunction with KTP, yielded probable cause to charge DeVous in the bank robbery. On 4/27/2022 detectives charged DeVous with Robbery 1st Degree.

Devous remains in-custody at the writing of this release.
