Around 8:45pm on April 27th, 2026 Spokane police officers responded to the area of West Thorpe Rd and West Westwood Ln after a 911 caller reported someone had been stabbed with a machete.

Officers were able to locate an adult male with injuries consistent with an edged weapon in the area. He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.   A different male had arrived at a local hospital with injuries consistent with being assault by an edged weapon. He also had non-life threatening injuries.

Officers spoke to both adult males as well as witnesses that were in the area at the time of the assault.  It was determined there was a confrontation between the two males.  The situation escalated when one of the males used pepper spray against the other male.  Both males produced knives as the altercation continued and both were injured.

After conducting a full investigation, officers developed probable cause to charge one of the involved males with Assault 2nd degree.  At this time, due to his injuries requiring medical attention, no arrest has been made.  This case has been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
