Just before 9:00 am on the morning of April 30th, 2026, 911 received calls about a shooting in the area of 900 E. 33rd Ave. Callers reported there was a victim in the front yard, and it appeared someone was doing CPR.
Spokane police officers arrived quickly and immediately began providing life saving measures to the adult male victim. Medics were called in and transported the victim to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Officers began speaking with witnesses and gathering information. During the initial investigation officers detained an adult male subject who was seen by neighbors leaving the scene on foot. After detectives interviewed the male, he was released.
At this time, SPD’s Major Crimes Unit is still investigating this incident, and no arrests have been made. This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no active threat to the surrounding community.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the medical examiner at a later time.
