On May 2nd, 2026, around 10:40 a.m. Sumter County Sheriff’s Office (Florida) reached out to Spokane Police Department regarding numerous telephone threats against “The Villages” and Mar-A-Lago.  The phone number tied to the threats was connected to a Spokane resident. The suspect was allegedly upset about President Trumps recent visit to “The Villages”.

Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and Federal Agents (Secret Service) both requested SPD contact the individual connected to the phone number.

When officers contacted the male, he admitted to calling “The Villages” numerous times, stating something along the lines of, “it’s not a threat, but a warning”.  Officers were able to confirm the male’s phone number was the same number that made the threats earlier in the day.

Robert Martindale (74) was arrested for Threats to Bomb or Injure Property (Class B Felony).  He was booked into the Spokane County Jail by Spokane Police.
