Two adults and their two small dogs were displaced after an early morning house fire.

At approximately 2:20 a.m., the Spokane Fire Department responded to the 500 block of E. Liberty Ave. on a reported structure fire at a single-family residence with heavy smoke showing from the front door.

Upon arrival, fire crews reported the occupants had safely evacuated and were outside of the home. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire, but the attached garage, house and a large portion of the home’s contents had already sustained heavy damage.

The American Red Cross responded to the scene to assist two residents and two small dogs after they were displaced.

No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.

The Spokane Fire Department’s Special Investigation Unit is working to determine the cause of the fire.
