At 4:25 PM, the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) responded to a residential structure fire in the 900 Block of West Basalt Ridge Drive in the Eagle Ridge neighborhood. The fire was reported by a neighbor describing smoke and fire from the rear of the home. The initial report to the SFD Dispatch Center was that there was someone still inside the home.

The first companies arrived to find a rapidly progressing fire located in the covered porch area and extending into the attic space. After forcing entry into the residence, the home was simultaneously searched while a fire located on the exterior and inside the attic space was quickly extinguished.

The value of structure and contents is estimated at $500,000, while damage as a result of the fire is estimated at approximately $5,000.

The nature of the fire was determined to be accidental, and the cause was discarded smoking materials.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters as a result of this fire.
