The City of Spokane Housing and Human Services Department (HHS) has launched a new webpage and notice document designed to help residents facing housing instability quickly access eviction prevention services.

The new webpage, hosted on the City’s website, serves as a centralized location for both tenants and landlords seeking information about available resources. These include:

  • Information about tenant rights and responsibilities
  • Rental assistance resources
  • Connections to free legal assistance
  • Contact information for the Eviction Defense Screening Line, nonprofit organizations, and community support

The accompanying notice document shares the same information and is available to landlords looking to provide resources to their tenants. It will soon be translated into various languages and made available on the City’s website.;

“We have placed a strong focus on eviction prevention and as a result, we have seen fewer people entering the homeless system. That shows how critical it is to connect people with support before they reach a crisis point,” Mayor Lisa Brown said. “At the same time, we have to make sure people know these resources exist and understand how to access them when they need help.”

“Preventing displacement often starts with making information accessible,” said Housing and Human Services Director Dawn Kinder. “By bringing these resources together in one place and making them easily available, we can better support our community members during times of uncertainty.”

“I am grateful to the Brown Administration and the CHHS team for all their work to implement this critical policy,” said Council Member Paul Dillon. “I strongly believe this program is a win-win for tenants and landlords. As we confront an affordability crisis we must address increased housing insecurity to make sure people have a roof over their heads.”
