***Updated 06/24/2026***
The City of Spokane would like to inform contractors, property managers, building owners, boiler operators, and other stakeholders that responsibility for the City's Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspection Program will transition to the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) effective July 1, 2026.
Beginning July 1, all boiler and pressure vessel inspections, permits, registrations, compliance activities, and related customer services previously administered by the City of Spokane will be managed directly by L&I. The City of Spokane will continue to administer the Boiler Operator Licensing Program.
Individuals performing boiler operator duties on boilers located within Spokane city limits must continue to obtain and maintain a valid City of Spokane Boiler Operator License as required by applicable City code.
The transition will provide several benefits, including consistent statewide administration, streamlined service for businesses, increased efficiency, as well as cost savings.
What This Means for Customers
