Vehicle prowler shoots at citizen in North Spokane

On 05-09-19 a little after 2:30PM, SPD responded to a shooting incident in the 100 block of W Carlisle Ave. Through the investigation officers learned that a citizen observed their neighbor’s vehicle being prowled and confronted the suspect. The suspect fled on foot with the citizen following. After approximately a block, the vehicle prowler brandished a firearm and fired a shot at the citizen. The suspect was able to continue his flight from the scene, and remains outstanding.

The suspect is described as a heavyset white or Hispanic male, approximately 6’ tall, bald head and clean shaven. The suspect was wearing a white T-shirt and dark shorts.

SPD is speaking with witnesses and processing physical evidence. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call crime check at 509.456.2233, reference case #2019-20082730.

We are thankful the good Samaritan was not injured in this case. Stopping crime requires the communities involvement, and we appreciate this attentive citizen attempting to make a positive impact. SPD would also like to remind everyone that confronting criminal suspects is inherently dangerous and situations often change rapidly. Please prioritize your safety when making the difficult decision of whether to intervene in an incident.
