Major Crimes Detectives identified suspect from August 20, 2019 Drive-By Shooting that occurred near Fairview Avenue and Ash Street. The suspect, Timothy M. Krenke (27 years old), was arrested yesterday in St. Helens, Oregon.

On August 20, 2019, a minor collision turned road rage incident took a violent turn for the worse. Timothy Krenke had an altercation with another driver which began in the area near Shadle Park. Krenke then drove to the area of Fairview Avenue and Ash Street where he stopped and appeared to wait for the victim. As the victim drove by, Krenke fired rounds from a semi-automatic rifle striking the victim’s vehicle. The victim had a child in the car at the time of the shooting and fortunately neither were struck by the gunfire. Incident #2019-20157689.

Major Crimes Detectives had limited suspect information initially. Through their ongoing investigation they were able identify Krenke as the suspect vehicle driver.

The vehicle driven by Krenke was eventually recovered in the Spokane area and after a search warrant was obtained, detectives and forensics specialists processed the vehicle for evidence. The firearm used in the shooting has not yet been located.

Yesterday afternoon, Krenke was taken into custody in St. Helens, Oregon. Krenke was arrested and will be charged with Assault 1st degree (2 counts), Drive-By Shooting (2 counts) and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The extradition process will be started to bring Krenke back to Spokane.

Krenke is a convicted felon and therefore he cannot legally possess firearms. Krenke has a prior felony conviction for Taking Motor Vehicle Without Owner Permission. In addition to the felony conviction, Krenke has several misdemeanor or gross misdemeanor arrests across four states to include: Felon Possessing Weapon (Oregon), Drug Possession (Wyoming), Domestic Violence Assault, Assault and Carrying Concealed Weapon (Montana).
