October 15, just before 7:00PM, Spokane Police responded to reports of a vehicle vs motorcycle crash in the 8700 block of N Indian Trail Rd.  The motorcycle was headed southbound on N Indian Trail Rd., and struck a passenger vehicle which was turning from W Lowell Ave., northbound onto N Indian Trail Rd.  Witnesses reported the speed of the motorcycle was a factor in the crash.  The Spokane Fire Department and the Spokane Police Department responded to the scene, however the driver of the motorcycle died as a result of their injuries from the crash.  Spokane Police contacted witnesses and the driver of the vehicle.  The driver of the vehicle was cooperating with the investigation, and there was no indication impairment was a factor.  The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit (MCU) crash investigators responded to the scene for the investigation.  The roadway remained closed for several hours during the investigation.  The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Spokane Police would like to continue to remind drivers to be watchful for pedestrians, motorcycles, other vehicles, and bicyclists near the roadway.  With the sun setting earlier it can be harder to see objects on or near the roadway, in the darkness, during the evening commute.  Please help prevent crashes by being cautions of your speeds, and watching your surroundings.

Spokane Police ask any witnesses to the crash, who have not already been contacted, to call Crime Check at (509)456-2233.  Reference incident #2019-20197038.

The identity of the driver of the motorcycle and the cause of death will be released by the Spokane Medical Examiner’s Office once proper notifications have been made.
