Update 9/29/2020:

Missing Juvenile Sophia Owens has been located.

Today, September 29, 2020, Sophia Owens was located near Elko, Nevada in the company of an 18-year-old male. Sophia is in protective custody and her parents have been notified.

The Spokane Police Department (SPD) would like to thank our Targeted Crimes Unit Detectives (TCU), the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and the local Nevada authorities that participated in the investigation and locating Sophia. Many hours were dedicated to finding her.

All the agencies involved will determine what potential criminal charges, if any, may result from this incident.

The Spokane Police Department needs your help locating a missing juvenile.

On 9/27/2020, around 9:14 AM, Spokane Police responded to follow-up on a missing juvenile case at the 5000 block of S Regal St. Officers on scene contacted the child’s parents and found Sophia P Owens had not been seen since she left her residence the day prior around 10:00 AM. 

Sophia is a 15 year old white female about 5ft-6in to 5ft-8in tall and weighs around 100 pounds. Sophia has blonde hair on top with red on the sides and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a maroon/black hooded sweatshirt, unknown type of pants, and black boots. Sophia was supposed to go to Manito Park after leaving her residence that morning; however, her phone pinged in Mead at about 11:00 AM on 9/26/2020. Her phone has since been turned off and her whereabouts at this time are unknown.

Spokane Police have searched for Sophia but have been unable to locate her. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call crime check at 509-456-2233 and reference case 2020-20169961. Please see the recently attached picture of Sophia for reference.
