On 01/31/24 at approximately 11:30pm, Spokane Police Department patrol officers responded to a report of a 3 year old male not breathing in the 5900 block of N Ash St. Despite life saving efforts conducted by patrol officers and Spokane Fire Department personnel, the child was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Major Crimes Unit responded to complete the investigation. After tireless efforts, MCU detectives established probable cause to arrest John L. Jones (38) with 2nd Degree Murder. In the early morning hours of 02/01/24, Jones was arrested in Las Vegas. He will face extradition back to Spokane in the coming days/weeks.
