Meanwhile, many activities are planned for the holiday. The Riverfront Summer Carnival presented by ICCU is open from Wednesday, July 1, through Sunday, July 5. The City of Spokane Fire Department reminds everyone that the sale and use of all amateur (consumer) fireworks is illegal in the cities of Spokane, Spokane Valley, Cheney, Millwood, Liberty Lake, and the unincorporated areas of Spokane County. Firework fines are $536 for each infraction. Remember that if it lights, it’s illegal; this applies to sparklers too. Residents can report violations by calling Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
Residents can dispose of unwanted fireworks in the household hazardous waste area at the Waste to Energy Facility. There is no disposal cost.
