Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown has ordered flags at all City facilities to be lowered to half-staff to coincide with Governor Bob Ferguson’s directive that state and U.S. flags at all state agency facilities be lowered on Monday, May 4, for National Firefighters Memorial Day.

“National Firefighters Memorial Day is a day to honor the firefighters and emergency personnel who lost their lives in 2025,” Brown said. “This year’s recognition is especially important as our community honors Kootenai County Fire and Rescue Chief Frank Harwood and Coeur d’Alene Fire Department Battalion Chief John Morrison, who were killed in an ambush attack.”

Mayor Brown encourages anyone with a flag outside of their home or business to join us in this recognition to honor their memory.
