March 16 at 11:13 a.m. - As early signs of spring arrive, Esmeralda golf course is preparing to open Monday, March 20.
March 10 at 4:30 p.m. - Construction on the new building for the Looff Carrousel is underway, with building demolition scheduled to begin Monday, March 13, 2017.
March 10 at 1:22 p.m. - Park Board selected a new name for Canada Island - a Salish name snx? mene? (sin-HOO-men-huh), translated to Salmon People.
Feb. 24 at 6:48 p.m. - The gravel road through High Bridge Park is temporarily closed to vehicle traffic as a result of ice buildup and deep ruts. The park remains open.
Feb. 23 at 4:47 p.m. - Enjoy one last skate at the Ice Palace before it closes Sunday, February 26, 2017. Come fall, the new ice ribbon and pond are scheduled to be open.
Feb. 6 at 9:26 a.m. - Park Board welcomes community feedback prior to selecting a new name for Canada Island in Riverfront Park at the March 9 meeting at City Hall.
Feb. 3 at 3:03 p.m. - Think spring! Tulips, daffodils, and hyacinth bulbs are on display through the month of February. Many orchids are also in bloom.
Jan. 12 at 11:43 a.m. - The Spokane Tribe will propose two Salish name recommendations for the renaming of Canada Island in Riverfront Park for Park Board consideration.
